This cartoon is a good example of the national debt we are dealing with now. It’s a huge problem that just seemed to grow unnoticed until it was too big to handle quietly anymore.
Our government would have preferred to keep the debts our nation had under wraps and not have big news about it. When the size of the debt became public the nation realized how big it really was; and how it will effect everyone.
Just like a pet dog (not to mention, a very large one), there are expenses that go along with taking care of it, that’s how this debt is also. The government will try to make it better and ‘take care of it’ but the other expenses still apply.
